Week 9 in Italy

Well, forgot to wish everyone Happy Easter last week. so... HAPPY EASTER! I am so grateful for Christ and for His res
urrection so that we can all one day be resurrected as well.

Holidays as a missionary don't really exist. In Italy, apparently it's rare for members to invite missionaries over for holidays (according to all of the missionaries in my district). We got really lucky though and our relief society president decided to do something about it and called up families from our ward until one said they would have us over. So we ended up going over the the Mazzolari's home for Easter. Sorella Mazzolari and Fratello Mazzolari are awesome! They have three children all grown up and only one still living at home, (their daughter mirium), so they were grateful that we came because their other children were with in laws. They cooked us lasagna, and meatballs, and salad, and capraese salad, and then to finish it all off we had colombo cake (which is reeeeeeally popular here) (basically it's just sweetened bread with powdered sugar and sometimes candied fruit or cream inside). Anyway. It was awesome. They were really fun to be with. And then Sorella Gunnerson sent me on an Easter egg hunt through our living room. It was awesome.

Last Saturday we taught an incredible woman named Veronica. She had been searching for the truth for a really long time. She met with us and throughout our lesson, the spirit was so strong, and she was agreeing with everything we said and felt that it was better than anything she had ever studied before. (She has studied with Catholics, evangelists, and Jehovah's witnesses). Her boyfriend is a Jehovah's witness, and when he found out that she had been studying with us, they started to fight. She called us on sunday really upset and said she was so sorry but she couldn't study with us anymore because she was sick of fighting with her boyfriend. It broke our hearts that someone who was so close to finding what she had been searching for for so long, is going to have to wait even longer to have the peace she so desperately wants. But I have learned that everything happens in God's time and that it will work out for her someday.

That's how everything seems to work. God has a plan, and He has His own timetable. We don't always understand it or even like it. But His plan is better than our own.
In a lesson this week I accidentally told someone that Christ was deep fried for us instead of suffered for us. Sofrito- deep fried , soferto- suffered. Managia.(dang it)

We were also at a
Anyway. It was just a funny moment.
less active members house for a lesson and she decided to cook us dinner. She had her balcony doors open and a giant wasp flew in. We freaked out because it kept coming in and then flying out and then flying back in again. So eventually, it flys into the sound hole of one of her speakers on top of some shelves. She decides to put in this cd of intense Italian music and blast it. Nothing happens. So then she grabs her broom stick and starts banging it into the speaker to get it out. Meanwhile sorella Gunnerson and I are dying laughing and terrified that a very angry wasp is going to fly out at any moment.

In Italy, the holidays are weird... People just go away for a really long time and it makes it really hard to see anyone or for people to actually keep their appointments they make with us. So things are a little slow right now. But I know that if we just keep working hard, we'll find the people that are prepared and ready to hear the gospel.

For p-day today, we went to a mall and did some shopping for shampoo and stuff like that at a place called CarreFour. IT IS AMAZING. It almost feels like america.. It's basically like a walmart superstore just smaller in size.. but for italy, it's GRANDISSIME. It made us feel like we were home for a minute. We could just go to one store to find everything we need instead of having to go to every single little specialty store for individual items like you always have to do here. It was really fun. Then we ate at an italian "food court"... Delicious pasta and yummy bread!!! A little different back home.. hahah Everything was set up sort of like an amaerican one, but the food was just so much better.

I love being a missionary. I also love having zero lice. Only a few more days of picking thorugh every night, and then we're really done!! (Hopefully)

I love you all! Thank you for your support.
:)

Love,
Sorella Tokarski
