On Thursday night at a less active families house (we go see
them every other week for dinner and a lesson) we had a very interesting
experience... The husband (the only relatively active member of the family)
gets up after we have finished the first course of pasta, and brings out a pig
leg... Just a straight up pig leg. He then proceeds to start hacking off the
skin and getting to the "cured" (which basically means they smoked it
for like 2 seconds) (so it was raw) meat and starts putting chunks on our
plates. He saw both of our faces and asked us if we were afraid. We very
politely smiled and sheepishly said yes... But we ate it anyway. Ahhhh the life
of a missionary in a foreign country. So different. So strange.
But I'm grateful for a wonderful companion that is willing
to help me deep clean and sanitize the whole apartment and then pick through my
scalp for two hours twice a day.
The work is moving forward. Hopefully next week, I'll be lice free.
Love you all.
